Sometimes Logan can be an open book, and other times she can be a mystery. Post crazy bbq finale, I asked about Andrew to get an overview on the situation and the conversation that followed, was interesting.

Me, ‘So, Andrew’s your boyfriend or not?’

Her, ‘Both, neither, depends.’

‘Depends on what?’

‘The day, the time, my mood, his position.’

‘Ok, so what are you going to do about the situation?’

‘Nothing, everything, something.’

‘What are you going to do about Mike?’

‘Mike?’

‘Yeah the guy you slept with who’s totally in love with you.’

‘Eh.’

            Speaking of Mike, he got the part in the short so he’s been really excited about it. The other day I ran lines with him and he’s actually decent. If I ever wrote a screenplay with the handsome playboy type I would definitely cast him. Maybe this could be his big break. The director is far out though. He doesn’t want them to rehearse together, he’s stressing that they memorize lines and show up to film with an innate sense of each other. It’s a short film for a grade, but hey, it’s his flick so I guess it’s all good.

            I hung out with Seth and his newfound friends. One of the guys, Ian, asked me out. He seemed pretty cool so I gave him my number. Contrary to common belief, I’m not a hoe who just gives my number out to anyone. Chris was just an exception; I was drinking a lot that night to get over the guy I had been dating at the time. To be honest, I’ve had sex twice with the same person.

            Alan. He was my first real boyfriend and the last real thing I want to talk about, but I feel it’s imperative you know about him to better understand me. We met at Spencer’s and immediately hit it off. He worked there about six months (I’ve been there two years) and I told him I could never date a co-worker. Two weeks later he quit, got a job at the local YMCA and we began dating. Everything was great, he loved music, movies, and art, as did I. We often talked about our futures, together, apart, everything. After waiting for twenty-two years I was finally ready to do the deed. We had sex and it was ok for me, but he loved being connected to me in that way. Soon after he began to get comfortable and I was unsure about the whole thing, I mean, I didn’t want him to want me for the sex so I told him to hold on. He did, but his whole demeanor changed, he was spending less time with me, our conversations revolved around pointless fillers. So, of course, I slept with him again to try to rekindle the flame, but again, it was just ok. No fireworks, no orgasm, no connection. I tried talking to him about it but he seemed disinterested. Turned out, he had been talking to his ex so we were done.

            Now Ian, the tall athletic guy who’s really into literature, wants to take me out. I was hooked when he told me he enjoyed the openness of ‘To Kill A Mockingbird’. Alan was black, Ian is white, something completely new for me, but worth a try I suppose as I try to figure out this thing called love and companionship.

            Seth had mixed feelings about Ian.

‘So, do you like Ian?’

‘He’s nice. Interesting, to say the least.’

‘I didn’t know you liked white guys.’

‘Well I never said that I didn’t.’

‘Active.’

‘What’s that supposed to mean?’

‘Just know that he gets action and stays active.’

‘Ok, thanks. May I mention that of the two of us, I do have more experience than you?’

‘That was a low blow.’

‘To say the least.’

            I’ve never seen Seth toss salt, or be the over protective friend when it comes to guys. Usually he may drop a word or two, but he lets Logan and me figure it out on our own, namely because we’re older, and women, but also because he knows how we relate to men. I’m boggled as to why he’d give me the heads up now.

            School starts next week and I’m excited. I told my mom and she took me out to dinner. I should go back to school more often, I’ve forgotten what it feels like to go out and not worry about prices. It was a much needed outing, we caught up on life and learned something important about each other; I’m not trying to purposely make her life hell, and she doesn’t want my life to be hell.

            Text last night from Logan: ‘Andrew and I are going to try this relationship thing out, break the news to Mike…’ Yeah, I wonder how that’s going to play out.
